BrandIndia will be at Art Basel Paris 2026, held at the Grand Palais from 23 to 25 October.
Our coverage will explore the geopolitics of art: how capital, institutions and cultural diplomacy shape visibility, recognition and influence. Where does India stand in these conversations, and how can its artistic diversity inform its soft power ambitions?
We will also examine possibilities for collaboration between Indian and French artists, galleries and institutions, including routes to recognition beyond established circuits.
Another thread will be art in the age of AI: creativity, authorship, copyright and the value of human judgment.
Having spent much of my life working with languages, their structures, nuances and possibilities, I, too, occasionally turn to AI to organise and clarify my thinking. This makes the debate personal. Where does assistance end and authorship begin? How should the contributions, consent and rights of creators be acknowledged?

These questions concern what we choose to exhibit, collect, protect and pass on. In the years ahead, who will be recognised as an artist, and what will we recognise as a work of art?
These are some of the conversations BrandIndia will pursue in Paris.
Thank you.
